Casitas de Gila Guesthouses and Nature Preserve is located in Southwestern New Mexico, USA, just 30 miles northwest of Silver City and 30 miles southeast of Glenwood, off U.S. Route 180. Our location is off the beaten path, yet not remote. It is incredibly quiet here, and there are no lights to spoil the night sky.

We're 4 miles from the small community of Gila, in Grant County, just off of Hooker Loop, which is a gravel road (also known as a dirt road). Hooker Loop is a county maintained road and is generally in excellent shape all year.

If you are traveling by motorcycle, please call us to talk about road conditions.

Occasionally a guest arrives thinking we are in the "middle of nowhere". But they very quickly realize that Casitas de Gila Guesthouses is the "center of everything"!

We recommend you reserve in advance if you wish to stay at Casitas de Gila, particularly in late winter, spring, fall, and on holidays and holiday weekends, when we are busiest. But if you find yourself in our area without a place to stay, don't hesitate to call and see if we have a Casita available before you make the drive out to us.

We send DRIVING DIRECTIONS with all booking confirmations. We don't want you to get lost trying to find us!

Silver City: 45 minutes
Las Cruces: 2-1/2 hours
El Paso Airport: 3-1/2 hours
Tucson: 3-3/4 hours
Albuquerque: 5 hours
Phoenix: 5 hours
Carlsbad: 6 hours
Santa Fe: 6 hours
Taos: 8 hours

Advanced Air: Operates daily flights between Silver City and Albuquerque and Silver City and Phoenix from Grant County Airport (SVC) (about 20 minutes from Silver City and a bit over an hour from Casitas de Gila).

FLYING YOUR OWN PLANE: There are two airports in Grant County: the Grant County Airport and Whiskey Creek Airport. There is also a dirt strip near us in Gila!
