The five casitas of Casitas de Gila feature southwestern adobe-style architecture and are decorated with Mexican furniture and antiques. Every Casita has a library of books on New Mexico and the Southwest. There's a kiva fireplace (seasonal) in the living room, a chimenea outdoors, and plenty of firewood available. Each living room has a spotting scope for viewing wildlife or the stars in the Milky Way. The Casita kitchens are stocked with breakfast foods — orange juice, milk, coffee/tea, bagels, english muffins, cereals. You'll find top-quality linens and towels, along with a hair dryer, iron, and clock radio.
High-speed wireless internet access is available in each Casita. Your cell phone will not work here (signal is blocked by mountains), but you can Skype and Facetime. Better yet: enable WiFi Calling in your newer smartphone's settings.
Each of our five Casitas has a wonderful view of Bear Creek below us, Turtle Rock across the creek, and the mountains of the Gila Wilderness in the distance.
Casita de las Flores (bedroom shown) and Casita de los Arboles (living room shown) are one-bedroom guesthouses, accommodating up to 3 guests (including children age 6 and older). Each bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed. These guesthouses have one bathroom with a combination tub/shower (accessible through the bedroom), separate living room/dining area with a kiva fireplace (seasonal), full kitchen, porch, and outside picnic area with bbq grill.
Casita de los Animalitos (bedroom shown) and Casita de los Pajaros (kitchen shown) are one-bedroom guesthouses, accommodating up to 3 guests (including children age 6 and older). Each bedroom has a queen bed. These guesthouses have one bathroom with a combination tub/shower (accessible through the bedroom), separate living room/dining area with a kiva fireplace (seasonal), full kitchen, porch, and outside picnic area with bbq grill.
Casita del Sol y la Luna is our two-bedroom guesthouse and can accommodate up to 5 guests. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed. There is one bathroom with a large walk-in shower. This Casita can accommodate a wheelchair. This is the only Casita suitable for children age 5 and younger.
A NOTE ABOUT GROUPS:
Due to our small size, the proximity of our Casitas to each other, and how quiet it is here, we are often unable to accommodate reservations requiring three or more Casitas, or parties of more than 7 people (whether booking as one party or several parties travelling together but booking individually), especially during our busiest times of the year. We recognize that the incredible quiet we have at Casitas de Gila is difficult to find in the world today, and we want all our guests to be able to enjoy it. We limit groups at the Casitas while we have other guests here out of consideration for those other guests who have come here to experience this quiet. We have 5 Casitas, but ONLY 1 CASITA IS SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT NEEDS TO BE PLUGGED IN. Please contact us in advance to make sure this Casita is available for your dates. Note also that there is no fast-charging station in the Silver City area.
